The Last Post

Since starting the Sissinghurst Garden blog in 2013, we have posted 161 articles with well over 1000 photographs, gained 560 followers and achieved 105,000 views in 2015.

But more important than the numbers however, has been our opportunity to share directly with you, the garden and our work in more detail.

Garden Team

The Garden Team from L to R: Pete, Claire, Troy, Phil, Jon, Helen, Josh, Emma

The journey hasn’t always been plain sailing, especially when seeking to capture the perfect image to accompany the articles.  We also had to make sure our knowledge base was high so that we not only wrote informative pieces, but also ones that were factually and technically correct.

In doing so we have all learned so much more about Sissinghurst as well as Vita and Harold.

Today is our last post in this format and on behalf of all the contributors over the previous 2 years,  I would like to thank you for taking the time to read our blog and hopefully enjoying it too.

This is not the end however, as you can continue to read about the garden and our work directly on the Sissinghurst Garden Castle NT website.  We will be regularly posting information and articles so do please come and take a look.

With best wishes for 2016 and happy gardening.

Troy Smith, Head Gardener

  3. Thank you so much for the always very interesting posts. Especially I loved the old photos and the posts about the history of Sissinghurst. Even after about 25 visits to Sissinghurst Castle I’ve still learned a lot and thus discovered new details. Thanks to you all but specially to Helen! Best wishes, Louise

  4. I feel VERY very sorry that this should be the last of your posts! I visited Sissinghurst last year, fell in love with the gardens and was very happy when I discovered the possibility of this “newsletter”. A lot to learn from them for my own gardening, too – I really enjoyed reading every article. And it is such a good (and easy) way to stay connected even if you are not living in Britain.
Greetings from my snowy garden in Vienna – I will miss the postings!
Have a great gardening year – Gabriele

  5. I have loved these readable blog posts and am very sorry to have read the last. It must be a lot of work to bring them together. However, they have raised Sissinghurst in my consciousness (it was never low in my estimation!) and I have increased respect for your work. I’ll try and remember to look at the website but probably won’t so much.

  6. I starter following tour posts at the begunning of 2015 to prepare for my first -glorious- visit to the Gardens at the end of may. I was very sick at the time, and reading all the previous posts had a wonderful enticing effect. So I have very special gratitude for your efforts!!! Voltaire ends its “Candide” esorting everybody to “tend to their garden”: for me it’s a beautiful metaphore, and I extended the inspiration coming from your care for the garden to my health, which I’m very happy to say has well improved. I’ll seriously miss this format, but I’m fond of your posts and will check them out on the website. Thank you!

  7. Sad to read this is the end of your blog page. As a person who lives a long way away (Australia), it was always a great way to keep in touch with a garden I know & love. I enjoyed the conversational style in which it was presented – I could have been there chatting with you. I will check out the website and call in & say hello on my visits to Great Dixter Symposia & privately. Best wishes Troy & your excellent team at Sissinghurst.

I will miss them but I look forward to visiting Sissinghurst again and perhaps seeing some of you working in the garden. Is someone’s name missing from the right of the photo line-up? I would like to know who is who when I come! All the very best to all of you for a Happy 2016.

  15. Dear Friends- I’m so sad to know that you will no longer be writing on this wonderful blog. May we ask why it is being discontinued with such great support? Thank you so much for sharing the photos, projects and insights. I’ve read every post and feel a connection with this garden. It is a life goal to travel to Sissinghurst and see the garden in person one day. Thanks again for all of your work and for sharing your experiences. I’ve learned so much from your writing! All the best – Cole

  16. Hi, I am so sorry to hear that you are not going to carry on with your blog. I truly loved reading about Sissinghurst. My book shelves are full of books on Vita and Haro!d and Sissinghurst. The whole of my gardening life has been inspired by reading and rereading these. So your blog added an extra dimension. I have visited many times and look forward to coming again possibly this summer. Thank you again for such a wonderful personal insight into the daily life of Sissinghurst. Sue Turner.
